Everyone wants the same things in life, to love and to be loved… to have security amongst their loved ones, and enjoy life. We all hope for a brighter future for our friends and family. Mostly we all share the basic desires in life, whatever culture or area of the world. I realize that I must have goals in life but in this realization, I can’t lose myself in the progress. I’ll be missing out on life if I work toward on specific major goal. Sometimes people need to stop and enjoy the ride, just a little slower…
Although I don’t try to judge I’m very skeptical about the people that I spend my time with, only because I want the best for them. As a very practical person I see life as a logical place where there are rules and in understanding this I believe everyone has the potential to be great and to go great things. The universe owes me nothing… I however owe it all to God. I am the master of my own life, and I can choose where it will end up. Each person is in charge of their own direction. I believe God gave us free will, and we choose how we want our life to unfold. We don’t know where we are going to end up so I don’t think it’s fruitful to worry about one’s destiny.
Given the fact that we don’t really know what is going to happen in life, we shouldn’t worry, just take every day as it comes. Although I can’t predict the future, I try to make the best possible decision for my future. Life continues to give me an array of opportunities, and I believe they are achievable, regardless of the limitations life has entrusted upon me.
As I embark on my adventure abroad this summer I will come across people with different beliefs and views than I. If everyone thought the same about politics, worldly views, poverty, or racism the world would be a very boring place. So when meeting new people on my study abroad trip I will not try to convert them, but just get along with them. The world is a lot more fun with people of varying interest and beliefs. I’ve learned if you try to convert someone to your way of thinking you will most likely fail. They have to discover it themselves over time. Many people I surround myself with are very one minded and stubborn, it’s just who they are. I have learned that I will never be able to convince the world I am right. I realize it’s also important to acknowledge that I may be in the wrong. I hope this study abroad trip will enrich my life and experiences as I come in contact with the various cultures of Europe.
