I saw my dad the other day… He was over at my neighbor’s house. I drove by and he was helping an elderly man pick up his yard after a storm. The old man couldn’t bend down so my dad helped him clean up the place. He could have worked on his own yard that was a disasters but he jumped to rescue and helped out.
I saw my dad the other day…He was on the ladder. Putting up the Christmas lights when I wasn’t around to help. He noticed the gutters needed replaces. Maybe in the spring.
I saw my dad the other day… He was outside of the grocery store ringing a bell. Sharing wisdom with a friend. Spreading cheer and love out to the community. When people said what a great thing he was doing he would say I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
I saw my dad the other day… He was wearing jeans and a white t-shirt. Arms tan from the hot summer rays, you could tell he was working hard. My dad always wore a t-shirt, especially when its hot out. He said that it soaked up the sweat and cooled him off. It is his nature’s air conditioning.
I saw my dad the other day… He was teaching my cousins how to surf and boogie board on the water. He was out there for over two hours. I would look up from my book and see him smiling. It warmed my heart. I saw my dad happy.
I saw my dad the other day… He was helping out after church, still squiring at the handcuffs by stiff sleeves that button at the end. He wouldn’t carry the weight of the world to the church, but instead always smiling, and obedient to his God.
